Programme Highlight
The Low Altitude Economy (LAE) is a key alignment opportunity for Hong Kong with the National Strategy. Given this opportunity, it may be high time to re-assess the Grand Challenges and the enabling factors to create future “Intelligent City Infrastructure” which will empower our city globally and with national integration for the new “Data Driven Economic Era” in this specific LAE aspect.
The talk aims to encourage further discussion and to highlight selected grand challenges for Hong Kong, from first hand experiences, to achieve the level of anticipation for future intelligent city that meets the national challenges and uniquely for Hong Kong as a global city.

Dr. Daniel K. Lau劉傑, Director of Technology at Apex-Sphere Ltd. and U Resonance Ltd. which focus on spatial-temporal technologies and applications including AI-IoT and GNSS for intelligent city. And Director, Raymedy Bio-Energy InnoTech Ltd for integrated bio-informatics and digital healthcare product solution.
Extensive Asia experiences in advanced semiconductors, high speed optoelectronics systems/devices, life sciences. Proven track records in continuing education, systematic innovation, technology commercialisation, global research partnership. Careers in IBM Microelectronics Division / IBM Technology Group, Bio-Rad Semiconductor and Life Sciences Divisions, Accent Optical Technologies, Inc, and City University of Hong Kong. Cofounders of startups including Ralong Business Technology Academy in 2003 that pioneered continuing education.
In 2002, Daniel became Founding President of Hong Kong Optoelectronics Association (HKOEA) which he led to gain wide international recognitions in promoting Hong Kong as the Asia leading hub in the emerging optoelectronics/photonics as new industry development in Hong Kong and the Greater China Region. HKOEA was instrumental in the “naming” of The Photonics Centre in HKSTP among other key contributions at the time.
